Who Is Your Valentine?

You may think that valentines are only for lovers and couples, but you would definitely be wrong. You can send a valentine to anyone special to you, or anyone you would like to be special in any way.

This important distinction about Valentine’s Day is currently taught to children around the country in public and private schools. Children purchase or create valentines for each member of their class, as well as their teacher. Everyone is a valentine in an elementary classroom. This is an important lesson for children to learn, because by making everyone a valentine, no one is left out, everyone feels special, and the children learn to love one another as we are told to do.

Valentine’s Day is also a day for adults to show their affection for special people in their life, including and other than their spouses. Fathers send flowers, candy, and a valentine to their daughters. Mothers may send a valentine to their sons. Siblings may send flowers, candy, and/or a valentine to each other. Children may send a valentine or make a valentine for their parents or grandparents. Valentines are a wonderful way to make anyone in your life feel special and remembered.

Friends also often send valentines to one another. A simple valentine to your best friend lets him or her know how much you mean to them. By sending a valentine to the special people in our lives, besides our spouses, it lets them know that we have not forgotten them in the midst of our love for our significant other. Many friends feel left out when a friend or loved one becomes involved in a new and engaging relationship. By sending them a valentine, it shows that they are not forgotten, but loved and remembered.

Sending a valentine to someone who does not have other family or loved ones to receive valentine’s from is also a great endeavor. Getting a valentine when you least expect one is sure to lift anyone’s spirits on what can otherwise become a very lonely, sad day. A valentine from the heart of someone who cares about you is the best way to keep anyone from feeling lonely.

One thing that has become very popular in these times is sending a valentine to a soldier off at war in Iraq or Iran. These soldiers are far from home and very lonely, and some of them do not have anyone to write to. Pen pal organizations have been formed to write to these soldiers, and make sure that they know that what they are doing is appreciated, and that someone really does care. Why not take the programs a little bit further and send a valentine to a soldier in the middle east? I’m sure it will be very much appreciated. Do an internet search for Middle East soldiers pen pals to learn how to get involved in the program, and send a soldier a valentine this year. Make a difference this Valentine’s Day.

The truth of the matter is, regardless of traditions, anyone can be your valentine. So who is your valentine this year?

For many women, especially those who are trying to work and raise a family at the same time, a lot of issues arise. With relationships, one of those issues is often a lack of communication. If you and your partner are currently experiencing a lack of communication, this is a problem that you will want to try and fix as soon as possible.

One of the many reasons why it important for you to have an open line of communication with your partner is due to the elimination or reduction of misunderstandings. While it is common for many couples to fight and occasionally even on a regular basis, you may be surprised to learn just how many arguments are attributed to miscommunication. By having an open line of communication with your romantic partner, you are less likely to experience these types of arguments or disagreements. In terms of your relationship, an open line of communication may actually help to keep it alive.

As important as it is to understand the importance of having an open line of communication with your family, namely your spouse or your romantic partner, you may be looking for ideas on how to do so. What you may not realize is that there are actually an unlimited number of ways that you can go about regularly communicating with your partner, no matter what the issue. A few of those ways are outlined below for your convenience.

One of the best times to communicate with your partner is at the dinner table. If you aren’t currently eating dinner altogether, as a family, this is another issue that should be addressed. Due to hectic schedules, it is common for some families to eat apart at mealtime, but it shouldn’t be happening each and every night. When sitting down to eat with your spouse or live-in partner, you can discuss important issues, like upcoming social events you would like to attend, money, or even just discuss how each other?s day went. This simple form of communication is one that can do wonders for your relationship.

Although it is important to communicate with your family, particularly your partner, on a daily basis in person, in person contact isn’t always permitted. With busy schedules, different work hours, or overtime, it may seem as if you never get the opportunity to spend quality time with your spouse or your romantic partner. If that is the case, you may feel that regular communication is just hopeless. While it may seem that way, it doesn’t have to be. If you are able to communicate with your partner through hand written notes, emails, or cell phone calls, it is advised that you do so, especially if you have an important message that needs to be passed on to them.

The above motioned tips are just a few of the many tips that you can use to help you and your partner, whether your partner be just a live-in romantic partner or your husband, keep an open line of communication. An open line of communication allows you to discuss any important issues that arise, as well as prevent other harmful issues from developing.

Are you married or do you currently live with you partner? For many couples, marriage or cohabitation, often spells trouble for many relationships. While there are a number of different reasons for the cause of this common issue, it is often attributed to a lack of romance. To help you keep your relationship with your live-in partner or your husband going strong, it is important to keep the romance in your relationship alive.

As nice as it is to hear that you should keep the romance alive in your relationship, you may be wondering exactly how you should go about doing so. When creating romance in your relationship, it is important to know that not all couples are the same. For that reason, you may want to keep your partner?s wants, needs, or interests in mind. This is another key to having a happy and healthy relationship, compromise.

One of the best ways to keep romance alive in a relationship is actually quite a simple concept. That concept is affection. Unfortunately, many couples get into a groove where they just become comfortable with their daily life. This often leads many couples not to hold hands anymore, kiss, or even talk about their day. It is important that you do not let your relationship get to this point, as it often spells trouble. As much as possible, you will want to express your love and appreciation for your live-in partner or spouse, both in action and in words.

It is also important to get out of your house. As with showing affection, many couples, after a period of time, stop going out on dates. Whenever you have a free evening, you may want to consider going on a date. What is nice about dates is that just about any activity can be considered a date. For instance, you can go out to dinner, see a movie, or go have a few drinks at a local bar. All of these activities can be viewed as a date. Social interaction, both with each other and with other couples, is important to the health of a relationship. For that reason, you and your partner should get out and socialize.

As previously stated, a relationship is all about compromise. Compromise is also a way to keep the romance alive in your relationship. As compatible as you and you partner or spouse may be, you may still have a few differences. Often times, these differences show on date nights. When it comes to going on a date or just doing a simple activity with your partner, it is advised that you comprise as often as possible. This may include having alternate date nights. For instance, if your husband wanted to attend a baseball game, you can agree to do so, as long as he agrees to go the movies with you next time.

As outlined above, there are a number of different ways that you can go about keeping the romance alive in your relationship. As difficult as love and romance may seem, it is important that you put forth the extra effort. Not feeling enough support is an issue that the two of you can resolve, but divorce may not be. That is why it is important to not let it get to that point.

If you are looking for something special to do for this year’s 4th of July celebration, throwing an awesome party can be both fun and rewarding for you, your family, and your friends.

Ever since the first 4th of July celebrations in the late sixteenth century, parades, festivals, feasts, and fun have been the norm. Today, a celebration usually starts with a party at someone’s home or a local park, and then ends up with watching the community fireworks go off at the local community park.

If you would like to have a 4th of July party this year, the first thing that you will want to decide on is the location you will have it at and the time your party will start. While clean-up is much easier if you have your party at a local park, there will be many other families trying to have their celebrations at your local park as well. For this reason, you might choose to have your party at your home and go to the park later in the evening to watch the fireworks.

You will need to send out invitations to your 4th of July party as soon as you know where it will be held. Your invitations are the first sign to your guests of what your party may bring. By either printing or purchasing some theme invitations you can start to set your party’s theme even before the big day. This will help your invited guests to begin to get excited about attending your event.

Once you have your initiations you should fill them out by hand, or print them on your computer, and make sure to include your phone number on them. In addition, if your party will be held outside make sure you let your guests know this so they can bring the appropriate clothing for the event.

Decorating for your 4th of July party can be one of the most fun parts to the day for you. With a red, white, and blue patriotic theme you can really go all out with streamers and Balloons. Your plates, cups, napkins and tablecloths can be red, white, or blue or a nice combination of all of them. In addition, add some American flags in appropriate areas to show your patriotism. Hanging a large American flag near your front door or garage is a very appropriate thing to do for the 4th of July.

The typical menu for a 4th of July celebration is hamburgers, hot dogs, corn on the cob, deviled eggs, potato salad, and anything else you might have at a family barbecue. For desert you can make a wonderful creation using red and blue Jell-o or a simple white cake with red and blue icing.

No party is ever complete without some music, and the 4th of July is no exception to this. However, mixed into your regular dance tracks should be some more traditional patriotic American music as well. Songs such as “America the Beautiful” and “The Stars and Stripes” are meant to be played on the 4th of July and will be enjoyed by all.

Make sure that during the daytime hours you take some time out to take photos of your guests in places such as in front of the American flag. These photos can later be printed or e-mailed to your friends and family as mementos of the day. In addition, they can be shared with loved ones who were not able to attend the event itself.

A great ending to a 4th of July party is a trip downtown to your local community park to watch the local fireworks. If your city or town allows it, take some sparklers and safe fireworks with you for the kids to enjoy while you wait for it to be dark enough for the bigger fireworks.

Most important of all is to enjoy your 4th of July celebration and remember that it is about spending time with friends and family as well as the independence of our country.

Greeting cards are a great way to celebrate any occasion, or just let someone know you are thinking of them. You can find greeting cards for birthdays, anniversaries, missing you, valentines, thinking of you, friendship, mother’s day, father’s day, retirement, thank you, and any other occasion you may think of.

Anniversary greeting cards are very popular. You can find many types of greeting cards for anniversaries. Many anniversary greeting cards are specifically designed for the landmark anniversaries, such as five, ten, fifteen, twenty, twenty five, thirty, forty, and fifty. There are anniversary greeting cards to wife from husband, to husband from wife, to parents from son or daughter, to grandparents from grandson or granddaughter, and even from niece or nephew to aunts and uncles. There are also funny and sentimental anniversary greeting cards.

Missing you greeting cards are fantastic for friends who are far from each other. You can find funny or sentimental missing you cards for any occasion, whether you are on vacation, or simply live far apart from one another. Missing you greeting cards are also available for lovers, husbands and wives, and other occasions.
Thinking of you and friendship greeting cards are great for letting someone know you care about them. Even if you live in the same town, or even on the same street, you can send a greeting card to someone who is feeling down in the dumps. It is proven that when people get greeting cards in the mail, it raises their spirits and makes them happy to know that someone cares. That is exactly why they have thinking of you and friendship greeting cards! You can get religious, family oriented, friendship, sentimental, or funny friendship and thinking of you greeting cards.

Mother’s Day and Father’s Day are great times for letting your parents, or anyone who has acted like your parents, know how much you care about them by sending them a greeting card. There are greeting cards available for mothers, fathers, uncles, aunts, grandparents, step-fathers, step-mothers, adopted fathers and mothers, and anyone else that might have had a hand in raising you as a child. Mother’s Day and Father’s Day greeting cards are no longer just for mothers and fathers. These greeting cards are for everyone!

Other types of greeting cards include retirement greeting cards, thank you greeting cards, I’m sorry greeting cards, and Get Well greeting cards.

Pirates have for a very long time been a source of great fascination for children. This is why a pirate themed birthday party can be one of the most interesting and entertaining party ideas on the planet if you are willing to pay careful time and attention to the planning process. There are things you will need, of course, in order to pull the pirate’s party off without a hitch and the most important is a lot of patience and the ability to organize well, plan for contingencies, and be flexible when the big event finally arrives. If you can do all these things with style and grace then a pirate’s life really may be for ye.

Set the stage with the invitations. A great idea to use for the invites is a pirate’s map. Let “X” mark the spot, give the date and time and remind everyone to dress in their pirate’s best (make a costume contest a part of the festivities). This lets everyone know the theme ahead of time as well as the fact that they should show up dressed for the occasion. I suggest making a cute rhyme in a pirate’s voice to go along with the invitation. Something like:

Ho ho hum and a bottle of rum
Our good lad “name” turns nine
So come ye to the Weatherly’s
And have a mighty fine time.

For decorations you will want to make the party room or the exterior of the house, wherever you are actually having the party look as much like a pirate’s ship as possible. It really is best if this sort of party can be had outdoors in order to provide great places for burying treasure and hiding stuff. If that isn’t possible however, you’ll just have to get creative inside the home.

Party games for a good pirate party are almost limitless. You can begin by handing a clue and explaining that there is a treasure map that has been divided into four pieces. The first clue will take you to the first piece, which will then have another clue that will lead you to the next piece until you find all four pieces. This buys a little time for getting things ready for snacks, cake, ice cream or other adventures that may occur later and gives the kids an objective. Once they have all the pieces you can tell the story of the lost treasure and then allow the kids to go on a massive hunt for the treasure. You could of course have teams with two different treasure chests if you want to make it a competition or race though both teams will win their treasure in the end. You could also, for younger kids, have a nice rousing game of pin the peg – leg on the pirate or a game of walking the plank if you have a swimming pool and are certain everyone can swim (though swim trunks are highly encouraged for this rather than pirate’s costumes) and there is an adult waiting at the bottom just in case.

Whether or not it’s a pirate’s life for you, chances are quite good that throwing an excellent pirate themed birthday bash will make you the mom of your little one’s dreams – at least for a day and will give the neighborhood and, of course, all your guests something to talk about until the next great event takes place.

If you have a daughter who is turning sixteen soon, then you know the importance of having a sweet sixteen party for her. Contrary to what she might be seeing on MTV, sweet sixteen parties shouldn’t look like a wedding; it should be a party simply to celebrate her sixteenth birthday and in some states her ability to get a driver’s license.

The sweet sixteen party which you and your daughter plan should start with picking a theme for the party, if you will have one. The theme you choose may dictate where you will hold the party. If your daughter wants a bowling party, for instance, then the party would have to be held at the local bowling alley. Some girls with summer birthdays will want their party to be on the beach or at a local pool. And, other girls want their theme to be elegant and more adult. For this last type of party you might want to have it at a restaurant or at your home.

Once you have a theme and a location, then it is time for you to come up with a date for the party. Saturday or Saturday evening is generally the best times to host a party because people will be off of work and ready to do something fun for the day or evening. The time of day for your party will largely be dictated by the theme of the party you are having and its location.

Once you have a theme, location, and date for the party, then it is time to start looking for just the right initiations to fit the event. You have the choice of writing in your own store-bought invitations, printing your own on your home computer, or having invitations printed. Here again, it depends largely on the theme of your party and what you have available to you in your area and online. However, you might be pleasantly surprised at the low cost of quality professional printing these days and may want to opt to have the invitations printed.

Once you have your invitations addressed they should be mailed about four weeks before the party. Your goal is to give people the opportunity to attend, but not let them know so far in advance that they forget to come to the party. Generally, about four weeks is the standard as long as you are not having too lavish of an event. If there will be over a hundred people in attendance, then you might want to send out your initiations earlier, but never more than eight weeks prior to the party date.

Once your invitations are sent out then it is time to work on the menu and decoration needs for the party. If you will be having an informal, family type gathering, then informal foods work very well; however, if your event is more formal or there will be a lot of people in attendance, you need to look at what foods will be appropriate.

For decorations, simple elegance works very well to help to keep prices down but things appearing to be elegant. Some store-bought flowers placed in strategic places can do wonders for a room!

Planning a sweet sixteen party doesn’t need to be complicated or stressful. The most important part is to plan a party everyone can enjoy and remember ?especially the guest of honor.

One of the best things that you can have when you are planning a party or event of any size is a written party timeline and master shopping list. By making yourself a good solid timeline and comprehensive list for shopping, you can ensure that your party goes off without a hitch.

Here are seven tips from professional party planners to get you on the right track in planning your shopping list and timeline:

Tip #1 – No matter what the size of your event, if it is for children or adults, a wedding or a simple birthday party, you must have a master shopping list as well as a good timeline. Simply use a pen and paper and decide on how long things will take you to do and start filling in your timeline. And, while you are going through the process, this is the time to start a shopping list as well.

Tip #2 – Before you can start to build your timeline and shopping list, first you must decide on where your party or event will be held and how many people you will be inviting. If you will be using an event location or a restaurant, you need to secure your space before moving along to do anything else.

Tip #3 – Once you have secured your location for your party, then you can start to build your lists. To start building your timeline think about the things you will need to do before the party, such as send out your invitations. If you will be having them custom printed you will need to allow extra time for the printing before you can mail them out to your guests.

Tip #4 – Now that you have your date and location secured, and you have ordered your invitations, if necessary, then it is time to think about what you will be doing at your party, what type of food and drinks will be on the menu, and how long you want the party to last. Dedicate a single sheet of paper just to your party day and list everything you will need to do, in order, by time. For example, preparing food before guests arrive would be at the top of the sheet of paper, while giving out party favors may be at the absolute bottom.

Tip #5 – In addition to your timeline for the day of the party, you will also want to formulate a timeline for the two weeks or so leading up to the event. Here you will need to block out time for cleaning, shopping, decorating, etc

Yee-ha, it’s my birthday! I wait on the mailman all morning just to see what joy he’ll deliver in the form of birthday greeting cards. Yes, I have a mail man, not a mail lady. I suppose the proper etiquette would be mail person, but it doesn’t sound as good to someone old-fashioned such as myself. However, I digress.

We must return to the wonderful subject of birthday greeting cards. Ok, so I’m at the mailbox, and I’m opening the door. Here goes, YES, we have hit the jackpot! It’s a sweet day indeed to receive the old-fashioned birthday card in the old-fashioned mailbox. Yes, we have progressed mightily with the world of computers. But there’s still nothing like a birthday card in the mailbox to brighten that special day.

Birthday greeting cards have been around for so many years, people don’t even think of their beginnings much anymore. So, let’s take a few minutes to honor the ages-old birthday greeting cards.

It all begins when we’re children. Even though most of us hardly pay attention to those birthday greeting cards once we’ve seen them the first time, there are some who cherish each and every card we receive, saving them for years to come. Some children hardly pay attention as their mom, dad, or sibling reads their birthday cards. But to some who aren’t allowed the luxury of living near the dear grandfather or grandmother or the cherished aunt or uncle, even the birthday card is a wondrous gift to be saved and given a place of honor on the mantle or countertop.

There are those wonderful birthday greeting cards that may come with a bonus, such as the twenty dollars we’ve waited for all year. To most children, that twenty dollars is still a fun trip to the toy department of their favorite store.

The birthday greeting cards will hopefully be around for many more years, bringing much needed joy and comfort in their acknowledgement of a special day.

The elderly, especially, look forward to the birthday greeting card. It lets them know someone still cares that they exist and that the fact of being born is still meaningful. It brings a smile to know the grandchild who may be too busy to visit actually took the time to go to the store and choose a birthday card and send it. Maybe the grandchild even included a glorious photo for the grandparent to share and brag upon to the neighbors or the mailman. Maybe the son or daughter who are too far away to visit included a special note with the birthday card to brighten the day even more.

Yes, the birthday greeting cards were a nice invention indeed. I found some in a drawer once from people I had forgotten about, but was thrown into a melancholy mood to remember. The long-ago party, the family gathered, the beautiful cake, were all brought back to life by one simple card. Even if it was one that may have been bought in haste, it still made a difference years later!

Health: Weight Loss: How and Why You Shouldn?t Have to Go Though It Alone

Are you a woman who is looking to lose weight? Whether you are interested in losing weight to improve your physical appea

Whether you are interested in losing weight to improve your physical appearance, your health, or both, you may be feeling a little bit hopeless. While many women are able to lose weight when they want to do so, others have a little bit harder time. If you are finding it difficult to lose weight, it may be because you are trying to go about losing weight all on your own.

When it comes to weight loss, there are many women who find it easier, as well as less embarrassing, to doing their own weight loss program from home. While it is more than possible to exercise and workout by yourself, do you know that you don’t have to? In fact, many women who have a workout partner or a workout buddy find it easier to lose weight than going at it along. Two popular reasons as to why those who have a workout partner or a workout buddy see success is because of support and motivation.

As nice as it is to hear that you should think about getting a workout buddy or a workout partner, to help you exercise and to help you lose weight, you may be wondering where that person may come from. Unfortunately, many women do not realize that they don’t actually have to look very far. If you are married or if you have a romantic partner, you may want to think about asking them to join you. Even if your partner isn’t a fan of exercising and working out, you can place a “quality time” spin on it. In fact, if your partner is a little bit overweight or out of shape themselves, they may even want to join you in your weight loss adventures. This is the ultimate show of support.

In addition to a romantic partner, you may want to think about asking any of your friends or family members if they would like to be your workout buddy or workout partner. When approaching your friends or family members, it is important to not focus on their weight or their physical appearance. Unfortunately, many women make the mistake of assuming that those that they know who are already in perfect shape wouldn’t have any reason to exercise, but you may be surprised. For that reason, you are advised to ask any friends or family members that you know to join you when you workout.

If you have asked those that you know to join you as a workout buddy or a workout partner and you have still come up empty handed, you may want to consider joining a weight loss program. Locally operated weight loss programs are ideal, as you often get membership perks, like access to proven exercises, as well as healthy meals. Another benefit to joining a locally operated weight loss program is the support from other members. There is a good chance that one or more of your other weight loss program members would love to join you when you exercise.

If and when you get a workout buddy, it may be a good idea to “spice up” your exercises a bit. For instance, you may want to let your workout buddy or partner choose your exercises or activities for one day and then you choose for the next. This may help to keep your exercises fun and exciting.
